Solid Waste
Artivinco owns the technology for separation of aluminum, plastic and cellulose. Monthly are used more than 1,200 tons of scrap of long-life packaging. The waste generated by industry are used in the production of tiles, slabs for construction of furniture, spools for electrical cables, posts, etc.. Only the portion not recyclable is for accredited landfills.
Effluent Water
The Artivinco units have areas for effluent water treatment, which maintain the ecological balance, avoiding pollution. At the paper unit, is located one of the largest plants for industrial effluents treatment in the country, which has the two largest anaerobic reactors in Latin America, with 22 meters high, 9.5 meters in diameter, and ability to handle 200 thousand liters of water per hour. This station provides the high efficiency of 95% in the final treatment of all liquid effluent generated at the factory.

The Artivinco’s treatment of the effluent consists of 2 basic processes for disposal of impurities that could cause water pollution:

Aerobic treatment
Bacterias that need oxygen for the treatment of organic load of water.

Anaerobic Treatment
Bacterias that do not require oxygen for the treatment of organic load of water.

With the treatment of effluent process done, it has the security of keeping the environment unchanged, using the existing resources in nature.
